Kidney stones, the follow up

Posted on July 12, 2026October 3, 2026 By Sam Wise

So then, whist kidney stones are very painful there was a positive that came out of my affliction. Following the CT scan the radiographer noted what looked like nodules on my left lung. With my previous cancer history they were concerned enough to ask that I have a follow up scan to check my lungs. 3 days after my CT scan for my kidney stones I was back in at Maidstone Hospital having a follow-up scan. I consider that to be a remarkably quick turn around, especially for the NHS. Irritatingly the second scan confirmed the nodules but this time, in both lungs. My cancer was seemingly intent on staying in my body as much as Manchester City were hoping to stay in the Premier League. Equally unwanted.

Why is this ‘lucky’? (Not Man City staying in the Premiership, my cancer being detected). Because without the scan my next routine follow up scan to check on my cancer and if it had spread would not have been until October at the earliest and maybe not until April. Now the nodules were confirmed it was back to King’s\Guy’s for further investigation to confirm that it was cancer.
