Greetings all. Whilst I was sitting on the toilet this morning wondering why there wasn’t a towel to dry my hands on, it occurred to me that I hadn’t done a health update recently. I will rectify this forthwith. My ‘new’ liver is doing very well and other than a recent virus that laid me low I am feeling positively chirpy. Harry the hernia on the other hand has been particularly grumpy in recent weeks and will be on the receiving end of a strict talking to very shortly.
In other health related news. I had a very nice man rooting around my intestines and colon with an endoscope three weeks ago. I will tell this tale at our next gathering as mere words will not do it justice. However, as the well-known Roman general and politician Germanicus Caesar wrote, and as JRR paraphrased, “out of the frying pan and into the fire”. Following the endoscopy I have now been diagnosed with a carcinoma of the caecum (colorectal cancer). Fortunately it has been identified quite early and is at stage 1. I’ve been referred to, yes you’ve guessed it, King’s for further treatment and probable surgery. I’ll bore you all with an update once I have one.
